ABOUT US

In 1994, the wind energy research team at the University of Utah recognized an opportunity to expand the use and benefits of the wind turbine dynamics codes they had been developing and testing for over ten years.  They created Windward Engineering to give the wind turbine industry access to the powerful and versatile methods they had developed—without requiring the substantial investment it would take to gain this capability in-house.  Windward Engineering has since expanded its services to include testing and design.

The staff of Windward Engineering represents more than 80 years of experience and include:

Principals

Dean Davis, MS Mechanical Engineering - 15 years experience in analysis and testing of wind turbines. Project manager and lead engineer for design of the “Endurance” 4kW wind turbine.

David Laino, Ph.D. - 14 years experience in analysis and design of wind turbines. Lead structural design engineer for the “Endurance” 4kW wind turbine.
